We are using advanced technology to accomplish two very large goals. First, to reduce the complexities and inefficiencies of a historically opaque philanthropy process and, simplify it. Second, working toward enabling everyone to participate in the process of raising and directing large, impactful donations aimed at solving systemic social and environmental inequities around the planet.
We built the afoofa platform using a blockchain software design to ensure security, transparency, and accountability. Blockchain’s security is based on cryptographic hashing algorithms and private/public-key “Signing” and verification to protect the storage and access of your data. The data is stored in a distributed ledger “structure’, across network nodes where data is only added once it’s been validated by software protocols designed for that specific function. The ledger can store any type of data, i.e. votes, currency, words, signatures, etc. Without the correct access, the correct keys, the right passwords, all you’ll see is a string of letters, numbers, and symbols.
We aim to achieve the demands of today’s donors and activists by utilizing the exponential impact of Blockchain technology which will provide end-to-end transparency, accountability, and measurable outcomes when funding NGOs tackling the critical social and environmental challenges affecting us all.
